Off-Campus Access FAQ

  1. What is Off-Campus Access?
  2. What resources are available?
  3. How do I access the resources?
  4. Getting Help

A. What is Off-Campus Access?

Off-Campus access allows current OCC students, faculty and staff to use all web-based databases through a proxy server. This means that you can use any computer with Internet access to open, search and print from all library magazine, journal and database sources after a single login to Ocean Cruiser.

Off-Campus access to these sources is restricted to current students, staff, and faculty at OCC. Anyone visiting Ocean County Collge Library on-campus may access all the same resources without needing to log in to Ocean Cruiser.

B. What resources are available?

All the Library's web-based resources are available off-campus, including full-text article databases, full-text newspapers, legal resources, encyclopedias, dictionaries, government documents and electronic books. All the resources below are currently available. For more detailed descriptions of the databases and the information they include, please go to the Database Description page.

C. How do I access the resources?

You can access library resources by following these steps:

  1. Login to Ocean Cruiser (http://prod.campuscruiser.com/occ/).

If this is your first time logging into the portal, your username is firstname_lastname. Your password is the last 6 digits of your social security number.

  2. Once you are logged in, click on the Campus Announcements tab on the left side of the screen. This will take you to the main Announcements page.

  3. Once you are on the Announcements main page, click on the Library Resources Available Online announcement. This is usually the very last announcement on the page.

  4. Click on the announcement once again and the full announcement will display, including the direct link to the proxy server.

Once you click on the direct link to the proxy server, you will directed to the list of resources, databases, encyclopedias, etc, available from off campus. Clicking on any of the titles of the resources will take you directly to that database where you can open, search and print from all the information in the resource.
